March 29, 2016 - LEXINGTON, KY—NJIT men's volleyball outside hitter Jabarry Goodridge has been selected Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II national Player of the Week after, guiding the Highlanders to their fifth straight win of the season and a 2-0 week in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA), David Portney of the AVCA announced Tuesday.

This marks the second Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honor for NJIT, and their first as a Division I institution. Previously, when the Highlanders were in Division III, Tarik Rodgers won the award on April 10, 1995.

Goodridge, the 6-foot-2 junior from Bridgetown, Barbados, led the Highlanders to a pair of wins over Princeton last week, which marked the first time since 2008 NJIT defeated Princeton twice in the same year (but it took the Highlanders three matches to do it that season).

For the week, Goodridge combined for an impressive .474 hitting percentage, including 46 kills (5.11kps) on 78 attempts, with just nine errors.

In the Highlanders first match against Princeton, Goodridge exploded for a career-best 30 kills on 47 swings and five errors for a .532 hitting percentage in NJIT's thrilling, 3-2 victory.

On Friday night, in NJIT's 3-1 home victory over Princeton, Goodridge headed the NJIT offense with a match-high 16 kills, combining for a .387 hitting percentage.

Goodridge and the Highlanders, who have won five straight, its longest since 2007, when the Highlanders won six in a row to open the season, will host No. 15 Saint Francis U on Friday at 7 pm.
