NORCECA Press Release
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, September 1, 2016 – The coaches of the eight teams taking part in the NORCECA U18 Championship were enthusiastic about the intentions of good performances by their sides, especially when only two tickets are available to the 2017 World Championship.
The other two NORCECA’s tickets to FIVB U-18 World Championship defined in the 2017 Pan American Cup
Alexandre Ceccato (Dominican Republic) - "We know that it is a strong competition, we will seek to qualify to the World Championship is our first goal and then defend the title won two years ago."
Erin Virtum (USA Coach) - "Our goal is the same as everyone, to qualify for the World Championship, this group has been working together during the month of July and we are here in Puerto Rico."
Ricardo Naranjo (Mexico) - "This is the first time the group comes out to play outside the country, although we don’t have tall players, the girls have the fundamentals. We know there are teams that have been preparing for a long period and that can be the difference"
Edgar Callejas (Guatemala) - "We want to gain experience and that our players get experience playing the highest level of our area. Our goal is to advance to the Semifinal. The team was together last year in Central America".
Andres Lopez Castro (Costa Rica) - "Our expectation is to improve our level of competition. We have spent the last days in Puerto Rico to fine tune the team."
Jean Luuc Lezin (French St. Martin) - "We expect to get a lot of experience in this tournament."
Ariel Ortiz Morell (Puerto Rico) - "I have a team that will fight the first two places to qualify for the World Championship. It's the least I can have as a goal. We have worked to battle against the United States and the Dominican Republic."
Shennel Pooler (Barbados) - "We will take every game for our players to learn and improve their level."
