Gymnasium, St. Michael, 2017-10-23: In a sprint three games away from winning their first Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball men's title Cawmere stumbles to the finish.  Cawmere lost their first league match for the season going down to Progressive 22-25, 27-29, 25-22, 23-25 last night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Cawmere still lead the standings with 32 points but the games they have in hand are against the defending champions Chargers and Deacons.  Deacons have 21 points with a 5/1 record while Chargers are 3/2 with 15 points.

Cawmere losing any of their two remaining games could see Deacons or Chargers slipping by to pip the Waterford lads at the tape.  Progressive who are 4/3 are not in the running for the crown and neither are All Stars nor Foundation United.

Deacons women continued a miserable 2017 season when they were stunned by Frozen Minis Club United.  Club won their third game of the league beating Deacons 25-15, 16-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Chargers won their penultimate game of the season dismissing Phoenix Security Services Carlton 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.  Chargers are eyeing a third spot. With one remaining match each Club with 14 points and Carlton with nine seem locked in the respective second last and last positions.
