Cawmere edges Progressive

Cawmere men edged Progressive in five bruising sets when the Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

With southpaw Shawn Simpson and former Jamaican player Mark Lewis blasting for Cawmere while libero Akeem Payne matched tremendous passing and defence with his customary trash talking, Cawmere took the game 25-19, 19-25, 24-26, 27-25, 15-13.

Progressive’s veteran Fabian Cox was in ripping spiking form and he also executed demoralizing blocks on Lewis and Simpson. Six feet five Chioke Holder thundered quick attack sets through centre court which gave Progressive the advantage. However, the relentless and bold attacks from Simpson justified Ramon Blade’s choice to set him even in the backcourt which denied Progressive their first win.
