Carlton wins in straight sets

Phoenix Security Service Carlton pulled off their first straight sets win for the season when the Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball action continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Carlton dismissed Pan American Insurance Warrens 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 thanks to the attacking efforts of Rhea Bryant and Tiara Johnson.

Toners win in five sets

Burger King Clapham Toners once again stuttered before Ashley Jordan’s allround performance helped them to a five sets win over Deacons 25-22, 23-25, 27-29, 25-21, 15-10, when the Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball action continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Cawmere stops Deacons

Cawmere men toppled defending champions Deacons to their first loss when the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

A new look and greater intense Cawmere battled from two sets down and three-points trail in the fourth set, 16-19 to hand Deacons their first loss 25-19, 22-25, 14-25, 26-24, 15-12. The aggression from Sheldon Roach and young Nkoya Bailey-Williams suggested another win for Deacons.

However, the brutal counter from Shawn Simpson and Mark Lewis stalled Deacons. Akeem Payne changed his libero outfit for a middle player uniform but kept his trash talking personality to offset Deacons when they seemed in control of the contest.

Warrens shock Chargers

Warrens put another dent in the Chargers’ bid to take the league title when the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Former professional Anicia Wood and young Arianna Layne shocked the higher ranked Chargers 14-25, 25-15, 10-25, 26-24, 15-9. The performance of Shaina Bradshaw, Dei Padmore and Latifah Wood suggested an easy win for Chargers.

However, with their setter, Carah Watson out with injury Warrens relied on Stacey Atherley and Gabrielle Foster as substitute playmakers and a total team game to topple Chargers to their successive upset. Layne was outstanding in serving and attacking which made a mockery of her small stature.

DVM wins successive matches

Development Volleyball in Motion defeated Phoenix Security Services Carlton when the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

DVM won two volleyball matches in succession for the first time since reaching the first division in 2019 by coming from two sets down to edge Phoenix Security Services Carlton 9-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11.

Carlton surrendered their early advantages by making the simplest of errors in all areas of the game as Dessani Waithe, Kandia Shorey and setter Amber Alleyne triggered a counter of attack and stubborn defence to win the five setter.
