Battle for top positions

The battle for the third spot among the men and women intensified when the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball continued on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons and Cawmere are guaranteed the first and second position in the men while UWI Blackbirds and Chargers will battle for the winners’ spot among the women. However, lots of interest will be on Wow Foundation, Barbados Bearings Progressive and Starz United fighting to place third with Deacons and Burger King Clapham Toners doing likewise among the women.

Deacons women with Shonte Seale home on holiday from her volleyball scholarship overturned their first round loss to Phoenix Security Services Carlton 20-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-22. That put Deacons on 44 points from a 9-4 record, the same as Toners.

Toners prepared for this week’s showdown with a brutal dismissal of former queens Pan American Insurance Warrens 25-8, 25-11, 25-5. Ashley Jordan and Ashley Marshall were too strong for a rebuilding Warren. Development Volleyball in Motion ended the season with their second victory, a repeat 25-15, 25-20, 25-21 win over Theta Math Academy Club United.

Starz’ hopes of getting a jump on Foundation and Progressive were blown away by Deacons 18-25, 18-25, 19-25.
