Blackbirds & Chargers in close race

Knockout queens UWI Blackbirds and Chargers kept pace with each other for the women’s league title, when the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball continued at the Wildey Gymnasium, on November 23, 2020. UWI beat Theta Math Academy Club United 26-24, 25-12, 25-12 while Chargers dismissed Development Volleyball in Motion 25-11, 25-22, 25-17.

In the mens’ matches Deacons defeated Progressive 33-31, 25-19, 18-25, 25-19 and Cawmere defeated former champions Chargers 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 29-27.

UWI & Chargers survive challenges

Knockout queens UWI Blackbirds and Chargers held off challenges to continue their race for the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one crown when the volleyball action continued at the Wildey Gymnasium on Sunday, November 22, 2020.

The Blackbirds defeated Deacons 25-19, 27-25, 25-27, 25-22. Chargers had to fight from a two sets deficit to escape Burger King Clapham Toners 25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Phoenix Security Services Carlton defeated Theta Math Academy Club United 13-25, 27-25, 25-14, 28-26. Club remain in the cellar with eight points after winning one of 11 matches.

Development Volleyball in Motion won their first match by defeating Pan American Insurance Warrens 26-24, 16-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Two former men’s champions were on the losing end last night. Chargers went down to Starz Volleyball Club 18-25, 25-19, 23-25, 17-25. Barbados Bearing Progressive suffered worse losing in straight sets to Wow Foundation United 23-25, 17-25, 25-27.

Starz upsets Progressive

Deacons lost their bid for a perfect season by dropping their first set for 2020 but the knockout kings are just two points away from capturing the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball title.

When the action continued on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Wildey Gymnasium Wow Foundation became the first team to take a set from Deacons. Apparently, that was all Foundation wanted as Deacons took the match 24-26, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15.

Barbados Bearing Progressive who were challenging Cawmere for the runners-up spot lost that bid when they were upset by Starz Volleyball Club. Starz shone brighter 25-23, 15-25, 27-25, 27-25.

Cawmere & Progressive in contention

Cawmere and Barbados Bearings Progressive continued their bid to place second in the Goddard Enterprises Limited men’s division one volleyball race when the action continued on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Cawmere overturned their first round shocker to All Starz Club 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13. Progressive enjoyed an easier night drubbing former champions Chargers 27-25, 29-27, 25-20.

The women’s matches saw Burger King Clapham Toners and Pan American Insurance Warrens scoring four sets wins. Toners lost the first set to Development Volleyball in Motion before taking the contest 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 and Warrens defeated Theta Math Academy Club United 31-29, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23.

UWI Blackbirds remain unbeaten

Defending champions UWI Blackbirds soared from two sets down to keep their unbeaten record intact when the first round of the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball league climaxed on Wednesday November 4, 2020 at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Chargers seemed to be in a pivotal position to avenge losing their knockout title to the Blackbirds while putting themselves in contention to reduce the gap between the two teams when they won the first two sets. However, UWI then rallied to win the battle 19-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-11. Deacons stopping Burger King Clapham Toners 25-23, 25-15, 14-25, 25-22.

The men’s games saw Barbados Bearing Progressive defeating Starz Volleyball Club 25-19, 21-25, 28-26, 17-25, 15-6. Wow Foundation United wasted little time in dismissing Chargers in straight sets 25-13, 25-20, 25-20.

Carlton secures win against Deacons

Kings Deacons moved closer to a perfect season and former champions Chargers towards an unforgettable league when the division one volleyball action continued on Wednesday October 28, 2020 at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons who won the knockout without dropping a set ended the first round with that record intact dismissing Chargers 25-17, 25-22, 25-15. Cawmere defeated Barbados Bearings Progressive 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 15-8.

Losing knockout finalists Deacons threw away a two sets advantage to lose to Phoenix Security Services Carlton 25-16, 25-11, 9-25, 14-25, 9-15. Burger King Clapham Toners beat Pan American Insurance Warrens 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.
