Thursday, June 5, 2025 – Defending division two men’s champions KFC Deacons maintained their bid to retain their title when they held off a spirited challenge from Blazers on their home court.

It took a special attacking game from Korey Webster for Deacons to take the battle, which lasted over two hours, 25-11, 24-26, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11. Remarkably, Blazers averted game and match point from 4-14 to reach 11 before losing the decider.

Seth Jervier held his serve as Blazers defended stoutly and counter-attacked to press Deacons when the game seemed to be over. The fire from Webster and the inconsistency from Blazers denied them that possible upset.

Earlier, Blazers edged Deacons in a Division Three men’s game 23-25, 25-18, 15-13.
