Warrens and KFC Deacons Triumph

Monday, February 10, 2025 – The Barbados Volleyball Association division one league witnessed a dramatic turn of events in the women’s matches as Warrens pulled off a stunning victory against UWI Blackbirds.

Leading the charge for Warrens were six-footers Anicia Wood and former Barbados netball captain Rhe-Ann Niles-Mapp. Their exceptional performance paved the way for a remarkable win over defending women’s champions UWI Blackbirds. Warrens clinched the match in straight sets, dominating with scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-20. The combination of Wood’s towering spikes and Niles-Mapp’s strategic plays left the Blackbirds struggling to keep up.

The battle of the restaurant franchises saw KFC Deacons frying Burger King Clapham Toners in an intense showdown. KFC Deacons secured their victory in straight sets as well, with scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 26-24.

Community College boys KO champions

Monday February 10, 2025 – Barbados Community College are the new boys’ knockout champions of the National Sports Council’s Schools’ volleyball.

When the finals were played at the Wildey Gymnasium BCC boys upstaged the defending champions the Christ Church Foundation School 25-23, 25-21.

The BCC lads played a remarkable game of defence and impressive attack to dismiss the Beacons who lacked confidence and consistency. MVP Rashawn Batson along with Jayden Mascoll and junior Barbados player Justin Alleyne totally outplayed Foundation.

Harrison College double crown queens

Monday February 10, 2025 – Harrison College are the double crown queens of the National Sports Council’s Schools’ volleyball.

When the finals were played at the Wildey Gymnasium Harrison College dethroned Barbados Community College’s girls 25-16, 25-21.

The BCC girls could not contend with the attacking fury of CAZOVA all-star Destiny Layne who added the knockout MVP trophy to her league MVP title. Junior Barbados player Amanda Daniel provided some counter for BCC but HC played a superior game to overcome every challenge to clinch the game and crown.

Contrasting Fortunes for Wow Foundation and Club United

Sunday February 9, 2025 – Newly promoted Wow Foundation United women and Club United experienced opposite results when the Barbados Volleyball Association’s division one league was continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

While Club was dismissed by men’s defending champions KFC Deacons 14-25, 15-25, 21-25, Foundation knocked down Hill Road 25-14, 25-16, 25-13. Hill Road could not contend with the fury and fire of CAZOVA all star Destiny Layne and her Harrison College teammate Talia Sandiford.

In the other women’s match, Chargers demonstrated their prowess by stopping Phoenix Security Services Carlton in straight sets, with scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-15.
