UWI Strike Twice at Bay Street

Sunday, April 26, 2026 – UWI made a successful double strike when a lower division volleyball triple header was staged at Bay Street on Sunday night.

With Barbados women’s setter Carah Watson piloting the way, UWI flew past Spikenards 25-21, 25-17 in the men’s division three action. Watson’s setting and her serving destroyed the inconsistent Spikenards.

UWI then overpowered the Police division two women 21-11, 21-19. Earlier, Hill Road proved too steep for Foundation Legacy, dismissing the inexperienced players 21-8, 21-17.

The home teams at Free Hill won one of the three fixtures at their court. Club United division three women out-fought the Gladiators 25-13, 18-25, 15-9. However, Free Hill toppled to Apex division three women 22-25, 21-25 and Deacons division three men blocked Free Hill 25-20, 25-22.

The lone game at Hill Road saw Chargers division two women coming from a set down to edge Blazers 29-31, 25-10, 15-12.

DVM Lost at Home

Thursday, April 23, 2026 – Development Volleyball in Motion (DVM) was the only team which failed to capitalize on playing at home when lower division volleyball continued yesterday.

Carlton Down Police

Sunday, April 19, 2026 – Police lost both of the games played on their court at the Police Boys’ and Girls’ Club, Bay Street, on Sunday night. But they certainly provided lots of entertainment for the large number of volleyball fans and supporters watching the games.

The Police division three men went down to Phoenix Security Service Carlton 20-25, 26-24, 15-10 in spite of a gutsy performance from former Barbados player Romel Agard and Andrew Arindell. The earlier setting from veteran Kevin Bynoe kept the officers in the hunt.

However, the consistency of Carlton proved the winning formula as the Police surprisingly kept Agard out of the game in the decisive third set. Earlier the Police girls lost their division three game to Chargers in straight sets 20-25, 15-25.

During the opening game a shower of rain interrupted the excitement between Spikenards and Apex but did not stop Spikenards from taking the division three contest 25-17, 25-19.

Over at Hill Road the home team handed two losses to the visiting UWI in division two action. Hill Road women dismissed UWI at 25-18, 25-14 while Hill Road men also shared out a straight sets whipping to UWI 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.
