Barbados launches CAZOVA bid

Barbados launches its bid to regain regional volleyball supremacy with the former six times queens meeting defending champions Trinidad and Tobago in the opening game of the CAZOVA championship on Sunday, July 23 in Suriname at 10.00.

Since arriving here on Thursday, July 20 following a 95 minutes jaunt from Barbados the Bajans have been able to get in two solid training sessions on Friday and Saturday. With five women’s teams participating they will play round Robin to qualify for play off spots.

Haiti was slated to participate but after purchasing tickets they were not granted transit visas on time by Panama. That left T&T, Barbados, Jamaica, Suriname, and the Bahamas to battle for the crown.

However, with the men divided into groups, Suriname had a Group A choice of Barbados or Martinique and they opted to meet Barbados the former 10 times kings on Sunday, July 23 in the night cap game at 8.30. Group B of the men contains The Bahamas, T&T, Jamaica, and Curaçao.
