Apex rebound over Advent

Saturday, May 17, 2025 – Newly promoted Apex used the Bagatelle home advantage on Saturday night to rebound from their last loss to division two WOW Foundation United by whipping Advent Ballers 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.

Guyanese duo Davindra Latchman, Shemroy Ross, and attorney Martie Garnes led the fight for Apex. Former Barbados player Rene Archer provided a counter for Advent, but he and his teammates were too inconsistent to win at least a set.

Earlier at Bagatelle on Saturday night, Simba Alleyne led Foundation United’s division three men to a 25-21, 25-17 win over Development Volleyball in Motion.

The UWI Blackbirds dismissed Chargers 25-15, 25-22 in a women’s division two battle.

WOW Foundation United unbeaten

Thursday, May 15, 2025 – WOW Foundation United continued their unbeaten run in the Barbados Volleyball Association’s Division Two league after being given a scare by newly promoted Apex on Thursday night at Oldbury, St. Philip.

FU had to battle from a set down to take the match 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-17, with former standout NCAA player Jabarry Goodridge dominating Apex’s defence. The newcomers looked impressive in the indoor facility, with Guyanese duo Davindra Latchman and Shemroy Ross, along with attorney Martie Garnes, providing great fight for Apex.

Ironically, while the pouring rain impacted the other outdoor fixtures, the large crowd at Olbury enjoyed entertaining attacks and counterattacks from both teams. Six foot four Rashawn Alleyne proved vital in executing demoralising one on one blocks on Apex.

Unfortunately, the second game involving the home team, Advent, was not as exciting. Hill Road rolled over Advent 25-21, 25-20, 25-17.

Before the rains, Cave Hill KFC Deacons outclassed UWI 25-21, 25-17. No other matches were completed on the night.

Vintage Volliers Defy Age

Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – Experience reigned supreme as Vintage Volliers, a team comprised of seasoned players in their forties and fifties, proved that wisdom beats youthful energy with a commanding 25-13, 25-19 victory over Development Volleyball in Motion in the opening matches of the Barbados Volleyball Association’s Division Two and Three league at the Police Boys and Girls Club.

Meanwhile, in another matchup, the Police Sports Club dismissed WOW Foundation United 25-22, 25-19. Led by sponsor and teacher Akil Ifill, who suited up and scored impressive kills while tutoring the youngsters in attacking volleyball.

KFC Deacons in Pivotal Position

Thursday, March 27, 2025 – KFC Deacons put themselves in a pivotal position to retain the Division One volleyball title when they handed WOW Foundation their first defeat in the league at the Wildey Gymnasium.

After trailing Foundation for the entire season, Deacons seized the big moment to dismiss them in front of a large crowd 25-18, 25-27, 25-15, 25-10. After evening the contest by taking the second set, Foundation suffered when their key player, Barbados junior Dominic Durant, suffered an injury and had to leave the game.

Deacons also suffered a similar fate when their southpaw Barbados under-19 player, Isaiah Francis experienced an injury and left the game at 15-9 in the third set. However, with by far superior reserves, Deacons outplayed Foundation.

UWI Blackbirds are the repeat double crown queens!

Wednesday, March 26, 2025 – The UWI Blackbirds once again cemented their place as champions, defending their league title with a commanding display against Warrens. The Blackbirds dominated in straight sets, clinching a 26-24, 25-21, 25-16 victory.

The WOW Foundation staged a thrilling comeback to topple Hill Road in a four-set showdown. After dropping the first set 21-25, WOW dug deep to claim the next three sets 26-24, 28-26, and 25-21.

KFC Deacons and WOW Foundation Ready for Championship Showdown

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – The stage is set for an electrifying clash as defending champions KFC Deacons prepare to face unbeaten contenders WOW Foundation in the highly anticipated Division One volleyball championship match. Both teams showcased their dominance during matches at the Wildey Gymnasium, paving the way for what promises to be an intense battle for glory.

Deacons delivered a commanding performance, dispatching Starz with a straight-sets victory of 25-16, 25-15, 25-20. Known for their precision and team chemistry, the champions left little room for their opponents to make an impact.

Meanwhile, WOW Foundation extended their flawless record with another decisive win, overpowering the Ifill School Police 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. The team continues to impress with their relentless pace and strategic plays, fueling speculation about whether they can dethrone the reigning champions.

Adding to the evening’s excitement, Chargers defeated Barbados Bearings Progressive 25-21, 25-17, 25-13 in a spirited display. Despite the presence of former Barbados captain Renier Grace, now playing for Progressive, Chargers maintained their composure and secured a victory.
