UWI Blackbirds with Victory Over Advent Ballers

Thursday, May 22, 2025 – The UWI Blackbirds cemented their place in the top three of the Barbados Volleyball Association’s Division Two League with a hard-fought straight-sets win over Advent Ballers on Thursday night at Clapham.

Despite the final score suggesting a routine victory, the Blackbirds had to summon all their resilience to edge out their opponents 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.

In another keenly contested Division Two matchup, the visiting Chargers women also walked away victorious. They overcame Burger King Clapham in a nail-biting affair, winning 26-24, 25-22.

Apex rebound over Advent

Saturday, May 17, 2025 – Newly promoted Apex used the Bagatelle home advantage on Saturday night to rebound from their last loss to division two WOW Foundation United by whipping Advent Ballers 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.

Guyanese duo Davindra Latchman, Shemroy Ross, and attorney Martie Garnes led the fight for Apex. Former Barbados player Rene Archer provided a counter for Advent, but he and his teammates were too inconsistent to win at least a set.

Earlier at Bagatelle on Saturday night, Simba Alleyne led Foundation United’s division three men to a 25-21, 25-17 win over Development Volleyball in Motion.

The UWI Blackbirds dismissed Chargers 25-15, 25-22 in a women’s division two battle.

UWI Blackbirds Soar at Cave

Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – Home team UWI Blackbirds defended their turf with a hard-fought victory over Hill Road. The Blackbirds maintained the dominance of home teams, overcoming Hill Road in a four-set battle: 25-16, 26-28, 25-18, 25-20.

Before that thrilling showdown, the Chargers wasted no time in stamping their authority on Spikenards, securing a straight-set triumph, 25-9, 25-20. While the loss dampened Spikenards’ long-awaited return to competitive volleyball after more than two decades away from the court, their resilience hinted at a promising future for the team.

Club United Finish Division One Debut

Thursday, March 27, 2025 – Club United capped off their inaugural senior volleyball season in spectacular fashion when the Division One league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium. The rising stars defeated former titans Barbados Bearings Progressive in straight sets: 25-18, 25-21, 25-16.

Meanwhile, the Chargers delivered a commanding performance against Starz, sweeping the match in three sets: 25-19, 25-12, 25-21.

Burger King Clapham Toners Upset KFC Deacons

Wednesday, March 26, 2025 – In a dramatic five-set battle, the Burger King Clapham Toners defeated the season-long favorites, KFC Deacons. Led by the unstoppable Ashley Jordan, the Toners staged a stunning comeback, overturning the Deacons’ dominance with scores of 15-25, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25, 15-12.

Chargers claimed their match against Carlton in commanding style, breezing through with scores of 25-16, 25-20, 25-13. Their seamless teamwork and unmatched firepower proved too much for Carlton.

KFC Deacons and WOW Foundation Ready for Championship Showdown

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – The stage is set for an electrifying clash as defending champions KFC Deacons prepare to face unbeaten contenders WOW Foundation in the highly anticipated Division One volleyball championship match. Both teams showcased their dominance during matches at the Wildey Gymnasium, paving the way for what promises to be an intense battle for glory.

Deacons delivered a commanding performance, dispatching Starz with a straight-sets victory of 25-16, 25-15, 25-20. Known for their precision and team chemistry, the champions left little room for their opponents to make an impact.

Meanwhile, WOW Foundation extended their flawless record with another decisive win, overpowering the Ifill School Police 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. The team continues to impress with their relentless pace and strategic plays, fueling speculation about whether they can dethrone the reigning champions.

Adding to the evening’s excitement, Chargers defeated Barbados Bearings Progressive 25-21, 25-17, 25-13 in a spirited display. Despite the presence of former Barbados captain Renier Grace, now playing for Progressive, Chargers maintained their composure and secured a victory.
