UWI Strike Twice at Bay Street

Sunday, April 26, 2026 – UWI made a successful double strike when a lower division volleyball triple header was staged at Bay Street on Sunday night.

With Barbados women’s setter Carah Watson piloting the way, UWI flew past Spikenards 25-21, 25-17 in the men’s division three action. Watson’s setting and her serving destroyed the inconsistent Spikenards.

UWI then overpowered the Police division two women 21-11, 21-19. Earlier, Hill Road proved too steep for Foundation Legacy, dismissing the inexperienced players 21-8, 21-17.

The home teams at Free Hill won one of the three fixtures at their court. Club United division three women out-fought the Gladiators 25-13, 18-25, 15-9. However, Free Hill toppled to Apex division three women 22-25, 21-25 and Deacons division three men blocked Free Hill 25-20, 25-22.

The lone game at Hill Road saw Chargers division two women coming from a set down to edge Blazers 29-31, 25-10, 15-12.

Carlton Down Police

Sunday, April 19, 2026 – Police lost both of the games played on their court at the Police Boys’ and Girls’ Club, Bay Street, on Sunday night. But they certainly provided lots of entertainment for the large number of volleyball fans and supporters watching the games.

The Police division three men went down to Phoenix Security Service Carlton 20-25, 26-24, 15-10 in spite of a gutsy performance from former Barbados player Romel Agard and Andrew Arindell. The earlier setting from veteran Kevin Bynoe kept the officers in the hunt.

However, the consistency of Carlton proved the winning formula as the Police surprisingly kept Agard out of the game in the decisive third set. Earlier the Police girls lost their division three game to Chargers in straight sets 20-25, 15-25.

During the opening game a shower of rain interrupted the excitement between Spikenards and Apex but did not stop Spikenards from taking the division three contest 25-17, 25-19.

Over at Hill Road the home team handed two losses to the visiting UWI in division two action. Hill Road women dismissed UWI at 25-18, 25-14 while Hill Road men also shared out a straight sets whipping to UWI 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

Blazers Hotter than Toners

Thursday, April 16, 2026 – Blazers division two women made a mockery of home advantage by dismissing Burger King Clapham Toners in straight sets when the lower division volleyball action continued at Clapham.

After a keen battle in the opening set, Blazers proved hotter than Toners, winning the battle 26-24, 25-21. Apex lived up to their name when they met Advent Ballers in the follow-up men’s division two match as they romped to victory 25-20, 25-23, 25-13.

Playing at home did not benefit Free Hill as they toppled to division three Spikenards women 21-25, 9-25. Spikenards division three men failed to make it a double success as they were stopped by KFC Deacons 20-25, 25-9, 7-15.

Up Parish Land, Christ Church Foundation United showed how to exploit playing at home in their division two clashes. National invitee Talia Sandiford led Foundation women to a 19-25, 25-21, 15-6 victory over UWI. Foundation then defeated UWI’s men 25-15, 25-22, 31-29.

Development Volleyball in Motion Triumphs

Saturday, March 28, 2026 – The Division Three men’s clash at Husbands, St. James on Saturday night saw Development Volleyball in Motion (DVM) deliver a commanding performance, sweeping Spikenards in straight sets 25-17, 25-23.

From the opening whistle, DVM asserted themselves with sharp attacking play, racing to a 25–17 win in the first set.

The second set proved more competitive as Spikenards fought to stay alive, but DVM with precise hitting and disciplined defense, edged out their opponents 25–23 to close the match.

Foundation United Clinch Division Three Women

Saturday, July 12, 2025 – Wow Foundation United pulled off a thrilling reversal to clinch the Division Three women’s volleyball crown over Spikenards, winning 19-25, 25-14, 25-10. After dropping the first set, Foundation stormed back with dominant performances in the next two, showcasing their depth and resilience.

This victory capped off an impressive season for Foundation United, who finished **undefeated in Zone C of the Division Three Women’s league. Their win over Spikenards not only sealed the championship but also highlighted the strength of their development program. Cuzarah Batson and Sienna Hall starred for Foundation.

Three Clubs Victorious

Sunday, May 25, 2025 – The rescheduled Division Two and Three matches held on Sunday night at Free Hill resulted in three different winners.

Home team Club United triumphed over Ifill School Police with scores of 25-18, 21-25, and 15-8, while Spikenards faced two losses at the venue. WOW Foundation United defeated Spikenards’ Division Three women with scores of 25-9 and 26-24, and Development Volleyball in Motion narrowly overcame Spikenards’ Division Three men with scores of 25-14, 18-25, and 25-10.
