Deacons Score Key Win Over Foundation

Saturday, May 24, 2025 – KFC Deacons won a crucial match against leaders WOW Foundation on Saturday night to keep their hopes alive of repeating as the Barbados Volleyball Association’s men’s division two champions.

Playing in front of a massive and supportive crowd for both teams, Deacons led by the wiry Corey Webster inflicted the first defeat on Foundation 25-16, 25-27, 25-27, 25-22, 15-7. Nicholas Russell-Griffith also played a key role in Deacons staying alive after being down 1-2 in sets.

With key player Jabarry Goodridge sitting out the game nursing an injury, Foundation’s Rashawn Alleyne carried the attack for FU. Still, too many simple errors by Alleyne and his teammates also hurt Foundation.

Earlier in the night Blazers division three men’s team edged Ifill School Police 25-16, 19-25, 15-10. Club United’s division two women also scored a close win over Burger King Clapham Toners 28-26, 20-25, 15-13.

Blazers Night Ends in Double Defeat

Thursday, May 22, 2025 – Blazers Club’s volleyball teams made the long journey from St. Philip to Free Hill, St. Michael on Thursday night, hoping to bring home victories. Instead, they faced stiff competition and returned empty-handed after suffering back-to-back losses in the Barbados Volleyball Association league.

The Division Three women took on Spikenards, battling hard but falling in straight sets 18-25, 20-25. Blazers’ Division Two women showed grit and determination in their clash against Club United, taking the match to a thrilling decider. With each team exchanging victories in the first two sets, Club United edged past in a nail-biting finish 25-21, 18-25, 15-13.

Club United and Blazers Shine

Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – Free Hill was the stage for a showdown as Club United harnessed their home-court advantage to secure a decisive win over Phoenix Security Services Carlton. With commanding performances in both sets, they clinched the match 25-12, 25-21.

Blazers embarked on a journey from St. Philip to face Apex out of St. Thomas. Unfazed by the challenge of playing away, they took the contest 25-8, 25-16.

Club United Finish Division One Debut

Thursday, March 27, 2025 – Club United capped off their inaugural senior volleyball season in spectacular fashion when the Division One league continued at the Wildey Gymnasium. The rising stars defeated former titans Barbados Bearings Progressive in straight sets: 25-18, 25-21, 25-16.

Meanwhile, the Chargers delivered a commanding performance against Starz, sweeping the match in three sets: 25-19, 25-12, 25-21.

Foundation Men Continue Unbeaten Streak

Sunday, March 23, 2025 – WOW Foundation men’s volleyball team extended their unbeaten run when the division one tournament continued at the Wildey Gymnasium. Facing a determined Starz squad, Foundation showcased their resilience and skill, triumphing 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20 in a hard-fought clash.

Despite leading 23-17 in the opening set, Foundation faltered, allowing Starz to win the set. However, they bounced back with an impressive display of power and precision, dominating the next three sets with strong blocking and spiking.

The newly promoted Club United team secured their first division one victory against Ifill School Police in a gripping encounter. With scores of 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17. Club United’s six-foot Junior Barbados setter, Sergio Jones, turned heads as he switched roles to deliver stunning spikes, catching the Police off guard and sealing the victory.

Deacons Men Continue Their Dominance

Thursday, March 20, 2025 – The defending champions, KFC Deacons, showed no signs of relinquishing their grip on the Division One volleyball crown as they cruised to another emphatic victory at the Wildey Gymnasium.

With only three rounds remaining in the season, the race for the championship has tightened into a two-horse contest, and Deacons made their intentions crystal clear with a commanding 25-11, 25-12, 25-17 win over Cawmere.

Meanwhile, the Ifill School Police, newcomers to division one volleyball, won a thrilling five-set victory against Barbados Bearing Progressive. With scores of 28-26, 26-28, 19-25, 25-15, and 15-11, the Police fought valiantly to edge their opponents. After surrendering the third set, they rallied back with a dominant fourth set and sealed the match with poise in the decider, proving their mettle against the seasoned Progressive team.
