Deacons and Cawmere in Knockout Finals

League champions Deacons predictably advanced to the finals of the Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball knockouts when the semifinals were staged at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons advanced with a straight sets 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 dismissal of CO Williams Foundation United, and Cawmere out-powered Progressive 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21. Shawn Simpson figuratively and literally pounded Progressive to set up a date with Deacons.

Deacons men celebrate the crown

Deacons men formalized their repeat as kings of Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball action continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons ended the league with a win over Starz United 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22 finishing on 33 points after losing just one game. Cawmere who scored that single triumph over Deacons ended second on 21 points by dismissing CO Williams Foundation United 25-22, 25-23, 25-18.

Deacons women to the top

Former queens Deacons moved to the top of the division one table by defeating Pan American Insurance Warrens 25-7, 25-12, 25-7 when the Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball league action continued last night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Defending champions UWI Blackbirds remain in the race by defeating Development Volleyball in Motion, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22. Another contender Chargers dismissed Theta Math Academy Club United 25-17, 25-22, 25-22.

CO Williams Foundation United faded against Progressive 27-25, 16-25, 25-17, 22-25, 11-15 but Deacons’ men seem sure of repeating as champions.

Deacons’ men defeat Progressive

Defending champions Deacons surged from a set down to stop Progressive 23-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-22 when the action continued on Sunday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons’ Ahkeem Mayers and Akeem Oxley shook off some solid blocks from Progressive to retain the men’s division one lead.

Starz won their first game of the season dazzling CO Williams Foundation United 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 29-27.
The high jumping Jonathan Alleyne, Kyle “Froggy” Croney and Derion Hurley proved too potent for Foundation who assisted their defeat by committing multiple serving and attacking errors.

Deacons’ men in control

Men’s champions Deacons took control of the Goddard Enterprises Limited division one volleyball race when the action continued at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Deacons’ men welcomed back Ahkeem Mayers from injury and Akeem Oxley who returned from his scholarship for his father’s funeral in stopping CO Williams Foundation United 25-18, 25-21, 25-21.

Former junior captain Brandon Callender was the sole consistent performer for Foundation who engage in the celebration of every won point.

Former kings Progressive held off an aggressive Starz to score a rare straight sets win 27-25, 25-23, 25-19.
