Three Clubs Victorious

Sunday, May 25, 2025 – The rescheduled Division Two and Three matches held on Sunday night at Free Hill resulted in three different winners.

Home team Club United triumphed over Ifill School Police with scores of 25-18, 21-25, and 15-8, while Spikenards faced two losses at the venue. WOW Foundation United defeated Spikenards’ Division Three women with scores of 25-9 and 26-24, and Development Volleyball in Motion narrowly overcame Spikenards’ Division Three men with scores of 25-14, 18-25, and 25-10.

Deacons Score Key Win Over Foundation

Saturday, May 24, 2025 – KFC Deacons won a crucial match against leaders WOW Foundation on Saturday night to keep their hopes alive of repeating as the Barbados Volleyball Association’s men’s division two champions.

Playing in front of a massive and supportive crowd for both teams, Deacons led by the wiry Corey Webster inflicted the first defeat on Foundation 25-16, 25-27, 25-27, 25-22, 15-7. Nicholas Russell-Griffith also played a key role in Deacons staying alive after being down 1-2 in sets.

With key player Jabarry Goodridge sitting out the game nursing an injury, Foundation’s Rashawn Alleyne carried the attack for FU. Still, too many simple errors by Alleyne and his teammates also hurt Foundation.

Earlier in the night Blazers division three men’s team edged Ifill School Police 25-16, 19-25, 15-10. Club United’s division two women also scored a close win over Burger King Clapham Toners 28-26, 20-25, 15-13.

Vintage Volliers Defy Age

Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – Experience reigned supreme as Vintage Volliers, a team comprised of seasoned players in their forties and fifties, proved that wisdom beats youthful energy with a commanding 25-13, 25-19 victory over Development Volleyball in Motion in the opening matches of the Barbados Volleyball Association’s Division Two and Three league at the Police Boys and Girls Club.

Meanwhile, in another matchup, the Police Sports Club dismissed WOW Foundation United 25-22, 25-19. Led by sponsor and teacher Akil Ifill, who suited up and scored impressive kills while tutoring the youngsters in attacking volleyball.

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – The stage is set for an electrifying clash as defending champions KFC Deacons prepare to face unbeaten contenders WOW Foundation in the highly anticipated Division One volleyball championship match. Both teams showcased their dominance during matches at the Wildey Gymnasium, paving the way for what promises to be an intense battle for glory.

Deacons delivered a commanding performance, dispatching Starz with a straight-sets victory of 25-16, 25-15, 25-20. Known for their precision and team chemistry, the champions left little room for their opponents to make an impact.

Meanwhile, WOW Foundation extended their flawless record with another decisive win, overpowering the Ifill School Police 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. The team continues to impress with their relentless pace and strategic plays, fueling speculation about whether they can dethrone the reigning champions.

Adding to the evening’s excitement, Chargers defeated Barbados Bearings Progressive 25-21, 25-17, 25-13 in a spirited display. Despite the presence of former Barbados captain Renier Grace, now playing for Progressive, Chargers maintained their composure and secured a victory.

Foundation Men Continue Unbeaten Streak

Sunday, March 23, 2025 – WOW Foundation men’s volleyball team extended their unbeaten run when the division one tournament continued at the Wildey Gymnasium. Facing a determined Starz squad, Foundation showcased their resilience and skill, triumphing 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20 in a hard-fought clash.

Despite leading 23-17 in the opening set, Foundation faltered, allowing Starz to win the set. However, they bounced back with an impressive display of power and precision, dominating the next three sets with strong blocking and spiking.

The newly promoted Club United team secured their first division one victory against Ifill School Police in a gripping encounter. With scores of 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17. Club United’s six-foot Junior Barbados setter, Sergio Jones, turned heads as he switched roles to deliver stunning spikes, catching the Police off guard and sealing the victory.

Leaders WOW Foundation Maintain Volleyball Crown Chase

Thursday, March 20, 2025 – Leaders WOW Foundation showcased their strength and determination in their quest for the division one volleyball crown. They triumphed over Chargers in a hard-fought four-set match, with scores reading 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Chargers leaned heavily on the experience and skills of Dale Addison, whose attacking and defensive prowess kept Foundation under relentless pressure. Despite the intensity of the game, Foundation delivered an impressive display of spiking and blocking power, although their journey to victory was marred by 11 serve errors, which offered Chargers glimmers of hope throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Starz Volleyball Club solidified their hold on the third spot in the standings with a hard-fought victory over Club United. Starz delivered a solid performance in the first two sets 25-18 and 25-16.

However, the third set turned into an epic battle as Club United, determined to avoid a straight-sets defeat, pushed the set to an astonishing 34-32. The nail-biting finish thrilled the crowd and showcased the grit of both teams, but Starz ultimately emerged victorious.
