Deacons defeat Toners & Apex

Thursday, April 2, 2026 – After waiting almost a month to get on court home club KFC Deacons wasted no time in racking up wins in the lower division volleyball action on Thursday night.

The Deacons’ division two women looked short of form dropping their first set to Burger King Clapham Toners before taking charge of the encounter 20-25, 25-12, 15-8.

However, Deacons’ division two men made a mockery of their previous keen battles with Apex as they dominated that clash 25-8, 25-12, 25-21.

Mixed Fortunes for Development Volleyball in Motion

Tuesday, March 31, 2026 – Development Volleyball in Motion experienced mixed fortunes when they hosted two division three matches on their home court last night at Husbands, St. James.

With the experienced Kandia Shorey leading the way DVM women took the opening division three battle from Chargers in straight sets 25-12, 25-11. However, Chargers division three men exacted revenge dismissing Chargers 25-17, 25-19.

Up Parish Land, Christ Church, home team Foundation United scored a double success with Apex suffering two losses. Foundation’s dismissed Apex division three women 25-12, 25-15. Apex looked challenging in their division three men’s clash before losing to Foundation 14-25, 24-26.

The fixture at Free Hill saw host Club toppling Hill Road 25-15, 25-15. Blazers and Advent battled in five sets of division two action before Blazers ignited and claimed victory 25-15, 16-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-8.

Development Volleyball in Motion Triumphs

Saturday, March 28, 2026 – The Division Three men’s clash at Husbands, St. James on Saturday night saw Development Volleyball in Motion (DVM) deliver a commanding performance, sweeping Spikenards in straight sets 25-17, 25-23.

From the opening whistle, DVM asserted themselves with sharp attacking play, racing to a 25–17 win in the first set.

The second set proved more competitive as Spikenards fought to stay alive, but DVM with precise hitting and disciplined defense, edged out their opponents 25–23 to close the match.

Carlton Outplay Foundation United

Saturday, March 28, 2026 – Division three Carlton Club women scored an impressive 25-20, 25-27, 15-8 victory over Foundation United when the volleyball action moved to Husbands, St. James on Saturday night.

Former Barbados setter Janelle Morris found potent attackers in Shakera Oliver, Jasmine Oliver and Adrianna Ballas as Foundation’s Talia Sandiford too few positive hits could not stop the Carlton squad. After Carlton won the first set Foundation inserted Sandiford.

Even so, Carlton battled back from 22-15 to hold game and match point 24-23 in that second set. Foundation locked the scores and edged home to set up the decider.

However, Foundation once again played their game of nerves resulting in serving and attacking errors as the more consistent Carlton took charge with strong serves from Ballas helping them to romp to an easy win 15-8 in the decider.

Police Edge Vintage in Division Three

Thursday, March 26, 2026 – A sharp shower disrupted the fixture on Clapham Court on Thursday night before division three men Vintage Volliers and Police Sports Club put on an entertainment exhibition of volleyball for the large crowd which waited for the court to dry off.

Both Vintage and Police sported a number of former division one and national players as they were in pursuit of their second victory for the season. After Vintage took the first set 25-14, the lawmen responded well to win the second 25-19 to bring on the decider.

Vintage rushed to a 4-0 advantage before shockingly fading as Police outscored them 15-6 to clinch the decider 15-10. Solid setting and all-round play by Kevin Chesney-Bynoe piloted the Police to their remarkable come from behind win.

Earlier the Police women and Burger King Clapham Toners were locked in their division two first set battle before the rain scuttled that clash.

The division three men’s match which was contested at Free Hill saw the home team Club United surging from a first set loss to Foundation United to claim a narrow victory over the visitors 25-27, 25-17, 15-13

Home Court Charm for Foundation & Free Hill

Tuesday, March 24, 2026 – Home court advantage proved to be the charm when the Barbados Volleyball Association’s division three season continued at Parish Land, Christ Church and Free Hill, St. Michael.

Playing at their home court at Parish Land, Foundation United romped to their fourth successive victory overcoming the Barbados Defence Force 25-16, 22-25, 15-8. Foundation maintained a strategy of playing their reserves for the entire match even when the winless BDF snatched the second set to force the decider.

Earlier Foundation United Legacy’s girls scored a straight sets win over Gladiators. After losing the first set Gladiators looked ready to take the battle into a decider before Foundation won the extended contest 25-20, 30-32.

Home team Free Hill United maintained the straight sets outcomes in the women’s double header. Free Hill continued the miserable night for the armed forces by crushing the Police Sports Club 25-14, 25-9.

The opening match at Free Hill saw Apex Volleyball Club defeating Chargers 25-19, 25-22.
